How to use Amazon S3 with your PC

Amazon S3 is a web service from Amazon that allows limitless file storage and retrieval. It's an amazing service, because it's redundant and costs pennies on the dollar compared to traditional hardware deployment methods.

I've been agonizing over finding a way to use it. See, the Amazon S3 folks haven't made it open to non-programmers. You cannot simply FTP files into Amazon S3, but you need a program to interface with Amazon S3. Since I am not a programmer, this has been frustrating for me.

There is hope, though. If you're looking for a way to backup your important files or your entire PC, S3 Backup might be a solution.

S3 Backup allows you to encrypt your files as you backup, and also allows you to run differential backups.

Yes, you still need to register with Amazon, but the programming mystique is removed and you can use it right away.

Now, if only someone would build an Amazon S3 tool that worked with Drupal ...
