10 years of doing anything is a pretty good track record. As things evolve in technology it's hard to stay informed, engaged and enjoying what you do. I love my job and still appreciate it as much as I did the day I was hired.

Danny Sullivan has notched the tenth year of covering search engines at it's an amazing run.

If you read his article you get an appreciation for the excitement and wonderment he still finds in the search engine space. Danny talks about what roped him into the industry and he details some of the things he finds fun.

The most impressive part of his post is his reflection on where the industry has moved in the last ten years. Looking through his posts you start to see that things have really changed.

Some of the highlights:

• How big was Alta Vista's index? Remember when everyone thought Alta Vista was the be all and end all of the search space?
• How about Northern Lights? Man, that one brings back memories. They were getting into deep search and article summaries well before anyone thought of it.
• Being banned by Yahoo? Now people worry about Google.
• FTC to stop spammers in 1999? Oh, yeah. That's worked out very well.

The list is a fanciful look at the history of search engines. Danny's long been a leader in the coverage and reading tea leaves. Let's hope he continues this service for another decade.
