Is it BBS or BBS' when you are talking in the plural?

I don't know and I don't care. What I do care about is the movie BBS: The Documentary coming out soon from Jason Scott.

If you're asking what a BBS is then you're not a geek. That or you're younger than some underwear I have.

A BBS is a Bulletin Board System. Prior to this wonderful thing called the internet we were messaging and transferring files with each other. The difference is that someone had a dedicated computer you dialed into to do this. Yep, we used a modem to call someone else's computer and leave messages for each other.

Ah, but before you nod off, these were not islands. Through various message networks they allowed you to share information around the world. Yes, you're right, the information wasn't instantaneous, but it did happen quickly.

BBS', did we ever decided how it should be, opened up the world to millions of people and was their first exposure to the online world.

Jason Scott is in the final stages of producing the movie BBS: The Documentary. It's close to shipping and deserves a look from all those folks who remember that Hayes wasn't just a President or that a Sysop wasn't someone who cleaned their extra gravy with a piece of bread.
