Patrick Grote
My name is Patrick Grote and I live in the great state of Missouri. For those who don't know, Missouri is in the middle of the United States. :-)
This site is designed to allow me to capture online information and pass along thoughts and opinions on matters related to technology, sports and anything else I am interested in.
One of the the things I struggled with was understanding the nature of blogging. To me it's a drag to see people talk about their personal lives. I am more interested in facts, opinions and things that can help me achieve my goals.
I work in the technical field managing technical and systems support. The position I hold is the best one I have ever had. It involves a mix of staying technical with management, so I am constantly challenged. I won't divulge the company I work for, as I believe that a line should exist there. My opinions are my own, but as you will see most of my efforts on this site are designed to increase the value I bring to the company.
The personal information is fairly brief. I am married to a wonderful woman. We'll be celebrating our 17th year of marriage soon. My daughter is a 13 year old young woman. She is the light of my life. Two dogs, a cat, fish and fiddler crabs ronud out our family.
Professionally, I have held a wide range of positions; all of them have been technical in nature. Most of my experience has been in the corporate environment, but for five years I worked in Fortune 500 consulting.
I've authored several books in addition to editing others.
