The Economist is a haughty publication that I don’t read often. Most of the time, I feel like they put on airs. Whatever.
Recently, they published an article looking at how people spend their time. The article looked at people in the following countries:
- France
- Germany
- Japan
- Britain
- United States
- Turkey
They then looked at the time spent doing the following activities:
- Paid work and study
- Unpaid work
- Eating and sleeping
- Personal care
- Leisure
- Other
Instead of making it easy to discern the information in graphical format, they made it hard. They used similar colors and decided on the wrong graph type:
It makes my eyes hurt. Luckily, the folks at Geckoboard put together better graphs. Amazing how much a difference the right graph makes.
