How do children lose their honesty

how-do-children-lose-their-honestyChildren are wonderful, but they always move through stages and they inevitably grow up. Honesty is a personality trait that is engrained into children and their behavior and it turns out that they learn dishonesty from adults.

There are few personality traits that are learned from childhood, but honesty is a mallable one that can be changed through observation, perception and more importantly experience. Maltreatment is a leading cause of children becoming dishonest.

There are folks that believe that honesty is a learned experience. From the linked article:

It takes a lot of courage to tell the truth-for anyone-at any age. It doesn’t always come naturally, so it’s a parent’s responsibility to teach a child to be brave enough to fess up. Like so many other characteristics you’d like your kids to have, this one depends a lot on you.

Survive any disaster in your own home. Prepare now. A must for the coming problems in the world!

I disagree. A child’s natural inclination is to tell the truth since they don’t understand the opposite. It is only through interactions with adults that children learn the negative side of honesty.
