I used adsense on all my sites, so it was interesting to see a new Wall Street Journal article looking at alternatives. The article is based on a report by Luma Partners.
A few interesting tidbits:
- There are 1240 companies in the ad space.
- They cover display, search, video, mobile, social, commerce and gaming ad spaces.
- It is a roadmap for possible acquisitions.
Google drives the search world and conversely, the online display advertising, but there are plenty of opportunities outside of search and display results.
How can so many companies compete in these spaces? Well, each looks to fit into a smaller piece of the overall advertising model.
