The recent tornado in Joplin, Missouri was devastating in terms of physical damage and loss of life. This isn’t the first time a tornado has hit the Joplin area. It is funny to think that in the past we’d have to go to the library to find a book to discuss the previous tornado or at best, wait for a newspaper. With the internet you can have easy access.
This book, published in 1971, is a great resource for learning about the event. It is housed in the University of Missouri online collection, so anyone can read it.
You’ll learn:
- The tornado occured on May 6th.
- 23 people injured.
- 1 died.
- 8,000 power poles were knocked down.
- 20 homes were destroyed
I still get a kick out of things like this. Small, regional publications living on internationally thank to the internet.
