Payperpost isn’t sitting still when it comes to blogs and blog marketing. They just signed a deal to acquire two of Performancing main assets, their tracking service and classifieds service.
I’ve used Performancing in the past when I was evaluating web statistics tools for a blog network. I liked the ease of use, but I didn’t like the fact that when Performancing wasn’t responding your page took too long to load. I prefer web tracking systems that are on your own system. (I should also mention that I use Google Analytics.)
What I did love about Performancing was their communications with customers. Since I started using their web statistics process in the beginning, they were more than happy to respond to inquiries and help with support. The communication was great, but one guy made it really work and that was Nick Wilson. All along you knew where you stood, what Performancing was doing and the struggles they faced.
The other thing I liked is that they embraced Drupal as their content management system. I run Drupal, so it was neat seeing tools and tips from a first class organization.
I don’t know the overall plan for integrating Performancing into Payperpost. Rather than guess, I would like to make two main suggestions:
1) Continue the communication. In my dealings with Payperpost, communication has been an issue. While I think it’s due to their fast growth, the folks at Performancing showed that you can handle communication with growth.
2) Expand the statistics. Performancing sort of came to a halt with the development of their statistics packages. Growing it will help increase the amount of folks who can benefit.
Anyway, I expect good things to come out of this acquisition and I hope the Payperpost folks keep some of the Performancing people around to help with communication.
