Two great chemical geek gifts

Just a quick note to add to the Christmas gift list. The family reads this site, so I am doing this for my own self-interest.

The first thing that’s cool is Sodium Polyacrylate. It’s a fascinating material that is highly absorbent. After adding water you literally get instant snow. Check out this You Tube video:

Next on the list is Aerogel. It’s an amazing creation that insulates great and has high strength. Here is the only You Tube video on it:
